Football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed within the last hour the news that will bring a shiver down the spine of West Ham fans.

Thee Italian ITK has tonight revealed that talks are advancing for West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá to join Aston Villa.

The update comes after a day of intense speculation and counter-rumours, with earlier suggestions indicating the Brazilian was set to remain at the London Stadium.

Romano has reported that Paqueta could leave West Ham

This afternoon a top London Stadium source told Claret & Hugh: “We have no interest in selling, we want to keep him, and Villa’s offer is lower than our valuation.”

Paquetá’s representatives have always insisted the 28-year-old would not push for a move away from West Ham. In fact, he has travelled with the squad to Nottingham for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Forest, despite claims to the contrary.

Paqueta likely to leave?

However, reports suggesting he is open to the idea of joining Unai Emery’s Villa side now appear to be accurate. As a result, it seems increasingly likely that he could join the Midlands club before the transfer deadline.

Posting on his social media, Romano wrote:
“Understand Aston Villa are now advancing in talks to sign Lucas Paquetá. Negotiations underway with West Ham while Paquetá is keen on Aston Villa move.”

The Italian has also reported a £47m transfer with his obligatory “Here we go” meaning the deal is nearing completion.

It’s the sort of news Hammers fans have been dreading. Unless the club can bring in more creative talent before the window shuts, this would be a sale that undoubtedly leaves the team weaker.

Throw enough Earwig ‘O’ headlines about and Fab Rom is bound to get one or two right.

Not exactly evidence of firm intentions by all concerned.

Only a couple of days left. Sigh!

  • Doug Beesley says:

Agree with you, ridiculous to let him go when he is scoring and playing well. Along with Bowen, Bissaka and Peters, the only ones playing well. If you get rid of 10 players it takes a while for the new team to gel and start winning again, let’s hope it will not be too late! Where are our goals and creativity going to be coming from? To let him go on loan seems especially poor business. If he wants to go, we should keep him till Xmas at least until we buy a replacement.

  • Mark says:

Just another example of how little you know. He’s the biggest weak link the team has. Let me know when it happens and I’ll drive him there myself!!

    • Martin B says:

As long as we can replace him , hes no loss he costs us a goal nearly every game 50m for him and 40m for elliot , I’ll drive oac man to villa myself

What is going on at West Ham
Why can’t they just tell Aston Villa that they are
    Simply not interested
He is a West Ham player
If he goes we are in big trouble
    Relegation candidates

We, the fans and club, have stood behind Lucas throughout his BS ordeal at the hands of an incompetent FA.
We’re Irons, it means something that we would do the same if it was a fringe player, or a star player. It’s what you do.
I have a suspicion that this move has been sanctioned by GP, he is building his squad, in his image.
Whether you like or lothe GP, we know he takes seasons to build from the bottom to the top.
If Lucas leaves, we should be grateful for the joy, skill and excitement he bought, wish him the best for the future. He has been nothing but a model professional.
Seeing the recruitment, albeit last minute, we can perhaps see the green shoots of something new.
It’ll still be a tough season, but maybe, we’re on the right path (I really hope so).

I suspect you’re right. Is Paqueta’s replacement already in the building? I wish him well, so long as he doesn’t end up in N17.

  • Steveo says:

Ramano comes out with a lot but hardly gets it right. Let’s wait and see how it turns out. If Paquetá is pushing for a move then good riddance to him the club stood by him he kisses the badge crosses his arms if he is wanting to go after doing that do one mate

  • Zeze says:

I look at the squad Forest are putting together and wonder what our strategy is.
MGW, Anderson, McAtee, the bloke from Ipswich, Hutchinson, Kulimeundo, Douglas Luiz and another for from Botafogo in the hope they get another Murillo.
What the hell is going on here, much smaller club but with a crystal clear strategy.
We’ve overstepped and forgotten our roots, bringing in players who don’t identify with the club and don’t dig in when it’s going wrong.
Now many want out before the door closes.
Relegation looms unless we can get some proper signings in asap.

I think that in this case there is no need to think long. If he does not want to be a hammer, then sell him and take his place Harvey Elliott from Liverpool, so that there is another option for creation and finishing of attacks. In this case, we will be stronger than if we had kept the talented but very capricious, and not justified the money spent on him Lucas Paqueta.

  • Den says:

    Rice to Arsenal.
    Kudos to Spurs.
    Parqueta ro Villa.
Upton Park sold for a huge personal profit for Sullivan.

We have not progressed under these shambolic owners.

  • Sage ⚒ says:

Tbh I don’t think he will be missed. He spends half the game rolling around claiming he’s been fouled. He’s impact is minimal a bit like JWP and free kicks. Kudus had a similar issue, beating the same man three times before losing possession. No one players is bigger than the team, thanks for the memories Lucas good luck for the future.

  • EssexIron42 says:

Sadly BBC Sport just reported that Villa are in talks with West Ham for a reported loan with obligation to buy Paqueta. Their report states that “ Sources have told BBC Sport that initial discussions have centred around a total package of around £50m including the loan fee before the deal is made permanent next summer. Well-placed sources claim West Ham want to keep Paqueta and it remains to be seen whether the London club sanction the transfer.

But the 28-year-old is understood to be open to joining Villa before Monday’s transfer deadline. The Brazil attacking midfielder trained with his West Ham team-mates as normal on Saturday before their trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. He was expected to make the trip for the match at the City Ground but his future at London Stadium is now in question.Tottenham and Everton also hold an interest in Paqueta”.

Surely Sullivan would not sanction a loan with less than 48 hours of the window remaining unless they have an even better replacement already lined up? We really are in the s—- if he leaves on a loan with an obligation as he cost £51 million and we would not be able to replace him with anything like a player in that price level unless we get the full price up front. This could turn very ugly unless more quality players are signed before the deadline.

  • Taffyhammer says:

Paqueta is open to all suggestions. Retiring with many millions will be one of them. But he does love playing football.

I am not too worried. COYI

  • Hammer says:

If I were Sullivan I’d be like Evan Guessand and 50
Million and you can have Paqueta

  • Colin Delicate says:

My comment should have read not 100% commited.

  • Colin Delicate says:

Not interested in anyone who is 100% in playing for West Ham. Have never believed any of his comments about wanting to repay the commitment and support shown by the club.
Move on get someone in who wants to play for us. West Ham will be here long after he or anyone else who thinks they are bigger than the club. Coyi.

  • Irish Hammer ⚒️ says:

Sullivan is a disgrace,47m is pathetic, Viera is in no way a replacement and Sullivan will have his pants pulled down on that deal too.
I’ve asked for it before, we should all be demanding it now
A FORENSIC AUDIT of the clubs finances with clear figures for the dividends, loan interest and wages Sullivan Brady etc have siphoned out of the club

  • Julian Woodhouse says:

47 million, sorry don’t see that, looks well short. Only thing I can think of is that they must have a replacement lined up as neither Fernandes or Magassa play his position.

  • Mammal says:

Did they do us any favours with Ramsey? Duran?

Grow a pair and treat them how they treated us. You know the price and there is no discussion until its met.

  • Dave says:

This could be the final nail in the coffin.
Unless they’re getting 60m it’s not worth doing.
The cost of relegation is just a bit more.
Selling all our flair internationals and leaving all the dross behind.
No one would blame Bowen for walking.

Can’t be bothered to do that soulless walk from Stratford if he goes as well, nothing to look forward to….

  • M B says:

£47m? Thats a joke surely. Oh wait our negotiator is the 🤡who has a rep for selling off the silverware cheap.

    • Stephen Kola-Balogun says:

Have the West Ham board forgotten what Villa did to us with Jo Duran and Jacob Ramsey. I sincerely hope not. Let’s give them a taste of their own medicine for once
