West Ham United are close to losing another midfielder following the latest update from football transfer ITK Fabrizio Romano.
Valencia CF are said to be just one step away from signing Guido Rodríguez, who would arrive on loan until June. This comes despite a West Ham spokesman telling Claret & Hugh directly that Rodríguez was “unlikely to leave now we’ve sold Irving”.
That comment was made yesterday in relation to Andy Irving moving to Sparta Prague, but it would now appear that decision has been reversed.
Posting on his X account, Romano wrote: “Valencia are closing in on a loan deal to sign Guido Rodríguez from West Ham.
Valencia will pay Guido’s salary until June, deal close.
It was never done or agreed with Juventus despite reports from Italy; offered to Juve but never advanced.”
Rodríguez Future Shifts Again
The news comes after the Argentine World Cup winner produced a couple of decent performances off the bench for the Hammers in their last two games. Signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, Rodríguez has struggled for regular game time at West Ham under successive managers.
If the move is completed, it would mark yet another midfield departure and raise fresh questions over squad planning and overall decision-making at the London Stadium.
Surely Magassa can’t be sold now that Irving has gone and Rodriguez is possibly on his way?
A few weeks ago there was general agreement that Rodriguez should go as he is too slow for the PL and basically a waste of wages. Does he now have pace? Decent player, wrong league.
