The risk of ignoring West Ham’s name cropping up in yet another report of ‘interest in bringing a striker to London Stadium’ is that nobody wants to miss ‘the one’ that turns out to be real. So, bear with us as we check and report these stories from around Europe concerning attacking players linked with a West Ham move.
Latest one is Noah Okafor – an interesting case as he’d said good bye to AC Milan fans, packed his bags and left on-loan for RB Leipzig only to fail his medical on the grounds that he couldn’t start to play immediately – and was returned to Milan.
Where he is not wanted any more and ‘runs the risk of being frozen out of the Milan squad‘ according to football-italia.net.
Hence, the report in Italian gazzettadelsport (kindly translated by sportwitness.co.uk!) confirming ‘West Ham and Bournemouth in for Noah Okafor’.
The deal negotiated with Leipzig was a €2 million loan deal and €26 million option to buy. Ironically this now failed deal could well have been negotiated to cover Leipzig’s own player André Silva who’s been linked with a West Ham move!
That profile of loan fee and option to purchase would suit West Ham financially too just now, and offer a much needed incoming pacy player to bolster their front line.
As was seen from the Crystal Palace team set up, West Ham are completely devoid of attacking options so – a loan signing such as this would at least allow Graham Potter to select a team that possesses some kind of attacking threat.
A Swiss international, Okafor at 24 is a good age profile and can play as a left winger or central striker. 550 minutes on the pitch from 16 games so far this season would suggest he’s pretty much upto speed although I’m not aware of the exact ‘short term’ medical issue. We’ll see what more we can find out about the validity of this ‘report’.
I’m judging this by the rhetoric coming out of our club, so i cant see us bringing anyone coming in at all, bring back potts, earthy and ward prowse immediately and give the youth the opportunitys that they have earned would definitely give us more pace and more threat going forward, earthy has all the tools to be a success and i was impressed with the youth that have been given an opportunity so far particularly scarles who looks ready for the step up, earthy as well is ready, kasey, and the other 2 lads who were given a, chance last game will benifit massively from more opportunities from off the bench, as they look far better options than Rodriguez who isn’t suitable for the Premier league. Ser is coming good now so that’s a positive but we must inject more pace into the team, we need summerville and bowen back ASAP as they have been our best 2 players from what I’ve seen, but ffs sign a, quality young striker I’d be more than happy if they signed Jonathan David as every time I’ve seen him play he looks, a real handful has pace knows where the goal is and theirs no point waiting for him to become a freebie at end of season as the competition then would stop us getting him offer the 15 million now surely his club would have the sense to take the money now rather than lose him for nothing..
Seem to be edging their bets.
MAYBE ok in long term but if he is not able to play until March what’s the point?
Need a striker who can play NOW.
Which means buying 2 strikers.
ahh was there with you until that word, ‘buying’.. two strikers? no chance IMHO
Seems to be some fictitious figures regarding finances.
No money to buy Duran at £40m but can now offer £57m.
Doesn’t help with offers for other strikers now they’ve shown their hand.
x2 strikers, c/b and mid fielder only £100m no problem for the seamless ending funds.
Also just paid compensation to Chelsea to get Potter a right hand man.
Unfortunately the Duran bid could have done more harm than could as it looks a no go anyway.
Hope they don’t go back with another bid of £70m.
Pull the other one it’s got ba!!s on it.
Whu to sign Okafar to play alongside Duran (headline tonight).
It just gets more ironic by the hour.
Villa now asking £100m for Duran.
Emery wants him gone and this looks like a ploy (if true) to entice a bidding war.
Hope he stays at Villa and that will make Duran an unhappy bunny.
Apparently out till March.
This guy sounds too ready. We desperately need someone who can be gradually integrated into the team over the next five months. A bonus would be someone who is not home grown and has no experience of living in London.
Anything else would just be too sensible to satisfy our needs.
The real solution to our problems might be to buy the entire Manchester United squad and replace our Potter with everyman’s choice of Ruben Amorim. A guarantee of instant success and looking so good for the future.
????
What amorin who had huge success at man utd not .. 😂😂😂
Don’t believe anything till they sign so all the players we are linked with take with a pinch of salt. Sullivan will do is normal stuff we are so used to it. Potter needs around 4-5 players to be honest. So see what we get ?
