Incredibly, Graham Potter’s old assistant head coach at West Ham United , Bruno Saltor, is now running Tottenham’s coaching sessions during the international break whilst the Hammers’ relegation rivals ‘prepare’ to make a new appointment.
West Ham opted to part ways with Potter back in November – which suddenly looks a sensible decision when compared to Tottenham’s procrastination for months over firing Thomas Frank: Had the north London side done the same instead of ducking the issue for months you can’t help but think they’d be out of relegation danger by now.
West Ham will be hoping the chaos continues for a while yet: There is of course no guarantee that the Spuds will get their appointment right this time around. The ‘shortlist’ apparently has at least ten names on it. According to footballlondon.com:
“Spurs expect to appoint a new head coach in the next couple of days to be in place when the players are back from international duty, giving them 10 days to work together. Bruno Saltor has remained and will lead training for those handful of players at Hotspur Way at the moment.”
Which sounds like a rudderless ship at present at this crucial stage of the season. Roy Keane, Harry Redknapp, Sean Dyche, Adolf Hütter, Mauricio Pochettino and bookies’ current favourite Roberto De Zerbi are all on the ‘shortlist’: Suddenly West Ham’s procession of four coaches in two years isn’t looking quite so chaotic.
Hopefully Nuno’s calm, measured approach will compensate for any Spurs’ ‘new manager bounce’: Tottenham have thirteen days to try and sort it all out.
Please stop saying four managers in two years please Martin. It’s just a drama headlining sentence that’s not needed just to make things sound worse than they actually are. David Moyes was appointed in 2019 making it four managers in seven years. Still not great but it’s fact. Anyway lets hope the spuds make another bad appointment, although as previously said it’s down to us to do what we have to and that is concentrate on ourselves and win games. Wolves next in the league, a winnable must win game.
Ultimately it doesn’t matter too much who Spurs employ as manager. As others have said it’s up to us to control our own destiny. It may not be in our hands at the moment but as all teams at the bottom are not gonna get maximum points from their remaining games it virtually is. Let’s hope we don’t have many more performances like the Villa game and play more like we did against Utd and Fulham and I think we will be okay.
