FEW WEST HAM FANS appear to have any sympathy whatsoever for tarnished star Lucas Paqueta.

Whether it be the undermining of the solemnity of the occasion of the passing of true Hammers legend Billy Bonds, the trashing of Premier league points or simply the petulant actions  of a millionaire who doesn’t care about the predicament of his employers.

Claret and Hugh readers made their feelings known:

Post by ‘Phil Baker’:

Much is said of how talented Paqueta is , but it’s rarely on display . His first season was good and then nothing but prancing drama ever since . His careless losses of possession cause more problems than the occasional goal contribution that he makes . I’m tired of all these overpaid prima donnas who don’t care at all about Westham . West Ham are an amateurishly run club destined for failure unless some professionalism is introduced soon . Sell Paqueta ASAP because mentally he’s already gone .

Post by ‘Saga’:

He was understanably frustrated at the pointless yellow card, but what ensued was inexcusable. Players must understand the this kind of reffing is par for the course when playing Liverpool. The ref had already booked a West Ham player for a near perfect tackle. To be fair to the ref. he gave him some time before brandishing the second yellow and red card. Players must be made to appreciate that when playing the top 5 these sort of decisions are inevitable. Paqueta’s conduct dragged the club’s name through the mud on a day we lost one of out greats, we needed better than this.

Today, we saw exactly what a player looks like who (a) Is all about himself (b) Does not play for the team (c) Does not respect the badge and this club – Even showing no sign of remorse leaving the field. No disgrace felt.
How do you face your family tonight, and explain to your kids what your daddy did? Wow !
And to top it Nuno says Paqueta is irreplaceable? Can someone please tell me what positive thing he did on the pitch today. A day West Ham celebrated the life of a true West Ham legend.
No, my take is West Ham is much better with Paqueta + may I add Kudus too. These players think the world turns around them and should be shown the door soon as too late. Come on West Ham. Your fans need better !!!!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

This has to be the final nail in the coffin for Bowen as captain. He has no authority on the pitch and I don’t think he gets what his job is. He’s a top player and a great bloke but a captain he isn’t. Imagine John Terry (yeah I know) allowing a player to get a yellow and a red for dissent in 1 minute.

Not sure who else could be captain though if Soucek isn’t playing?

My reading of it is if you’re a brilliant player of the maverick emotional variety you can get away with the histrionics as long as you’re playing brilliantly. I’m thinking of Paulo Dicanio here. Some of that man’s behaviour was extreme but we all forgave him for it because he always produced the magic moments on the pitch. Paquetas magic moments are few and far between and in the game against Liverpool he was terrible. It was almost as if he was trying to get himself dropped from the team.

I think we’d get as good a performance from Fernandes without any of the theatricals to be honest, give him Paquetas slot at Man U. Also give George Earthy half an hour or so there, we could at least be assured of an applied honest shift and it’s beyond time. Yesterdays fiasco was barmy to be frank, like who in their right mind.

    • Bryz says:

He’s given himself a couple of weeks off. Then they’ll be another drama, so he’ll miss the holiday games.
Roll in to January and a minor tweak will kerp him sidelined until his new owners offer an acceptable fee.
      Call.me cynical.

This guy has got to go,He is a luxury we cannot afford and a bad example to young players\ He may have touches of brilliance but is inconsistent and these crazy bookings and games he misses through them is too much to tolerate any longer.

the first caution was for continually remonstrating and throwing arms in the air every time the whistle was blown. you could see the referee counting one, two three…..he knew it…

  • Dagenham Dave says:

That’s hardly a backlash lads, he is a top player on his day, but those days are too infrequent, if we get an offer around what we paid for him then move him on in January. Maybe your readers should show their ire more at the ref, who let Liverpool get away with constantly feigning injury, needlessly fouling our players without action

    • Steve Wells says:

He’s been a liability for a long time now. And his actions were those of a man asking to be booked, and booked again. It was a foul so what was he complaining about? Inexcusable but why was it that the man trying hardest to calm him down was the opposition goalkeeper? Bowen needs to look at himself. He’s our best player yes, but he’s no captain.
