YOU can hardly blame West Ham United’s squad members for ‘hedging’ as far as their club futures are concerned. Many will be under strict instructions from their agents to avoid making pronouncements, indeed probably many have no clue as to their futures beyond the summer vacation and for some, the welcome relief of international football.
Indeed, heading off to training camps with their national sides at least gives several something positive to focus on after the emotionally draining relegation season they have – along with fans- been forced to live out week by week for seemingly about eight months.
World Cup offers a break from the gloom and doom around London Stadium
Tomas Soucek is no exception. After his initial pronouncement on social media suggested he’d want to stay at the club, it seems he’s now under strict instructions, in a manner more akin to a proficient politician, to duck the issue of his own future, which many fans will regard as an ominous turn of events.
As revealed by sportwitness.co.uk, Soucek batted away questions on his future yesterday:
Right now, I have a clear head for a month, focused solely on the national team. I want to achieve what we came here for. Only then will I focus on that other part of my football life again. It’s probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but right now, the national team is the most important thing for me.”

I’m sorry, but now I’m fully focused on the World Cup. I’m here with the boys, we’re playing big games. It’s been our dream for several years. We’re here, my full readiness is for these games. And what will happen at the club will only be after some vacation.”
Cannot blame the guy really. Who would want to remember that dreadful season when the prospect of a long break from the doom, gloom, negativity and dressing room bust-ups presents itself.
Especially if there’s an escape route offered to Soucek by another Premier League club during August. I’m kind of envious. Its only us fans who have no such prospect of escaping the misery.
He has given everything for the club I suspect if he is staying tight lipped it’s because there is uncertainty about who is staying and maybe the club is going to completely clear the decks. Nothing would surprise us with the shambles of our leadership.

So bassicly west hams rebuild is delayed until after the world cup. 6 weeks away.. what a club this is. Whats the chances we go into our first league game in a complete shambles.
