THE confirmation came yesterday that on-loan centre back Igor Julio would be heading back to Brighton after a loan spell in which the Brazilian made a grand total of one start and four appearances in claret and blue. As observers had commented, Nuno clearly didn’t rate the defender who is now apparently headed back to the south coast before likely being sold overseas.

Which paves the way for a new West Ham loaning in this winter market. A certain sense of dread had engulfed Hammers fans that the stories may be true and Chelsea ‘bomb squad’ founder member Axel Disase may become the next in line to head to east London-this despite the player snubbing a move to West Ham last year and opting for no football instead of becoming a West Ham player.

West Ham appear to have have such low ambitions for signings this week

Welcome news for the fans – and there have been many – who have bemoaned the modest abilities of Disase who has recently been turning out for Chelseas’ u21’s and spectacularly underperforming.  It appears a new suitor from Italy may be emerging as a likely competitor for West Ham, and knowing Disase’s obvious distaste for the Hammers, we can keep everything crossed that he chooses a Serie A move instead. According to Chelsea.news:

“Fiorentina are ready to approach Chelsea to ask after the availability of defender Axel Disasi, claim Sky Sport Italia, [as cited and translated by Football Italia].”

I suspect most Hammers fans will be cheering the Italians on. The bigger concern here is how low West Ham’s aspirations are in the search for a defender. Clearly Disase wouldn’t start and it’d be a toss up to decide the least effective, him or Max Kilman. Both are Championship quality centre backs and if West Ham aren’t more ambitious with their signings this week, that’s where they are headed.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

I would not agree with your assessment on this guy Martin. Not so long ago, Todibo and Dinos were being labelled as inadequate by many, now they seem to be an important part of our resurgence. Maybe he is another one that could come good with some decent coaching with a bit of faith shown in him.

Quite possibly, but surely we are looking at trying to stay in the Premier League rather than bring in any more ‘maybe they can get better’ players. They need to strengthen the squad today, not next year in the championship.

Very very true, we need a bollocking Defender with a bit of Leadership and fight.
