Fine Irons start but obvious flaws, luck and risk

West Ham’s start to the season has been widely acclaimed as outstanding and Claret and Hugh certainly doesn’t disagree.

However, CandH follower West Ham No 32, whilst agreeing by and large, raises issues that have been mentioned by others elsewhere and we believe is worth raising here.

I have definitely have been proved wrong with results which of course have been far better than expected and we have done well in the market.

Hammers upside Paqueta

However, I am still wary of the approach to sit with a low block for most of the game; it’s ugly and full of risk. We have got away with it so far and long may that continue but we have been lucky too.

Luton could have had a penalty on another day, Chelsea blew a penalty, we drew against a struggling Bournemouth side and haven’t been able to string passes together.

On the upside we kept Paqueta and this is a side in transition so we have a lot of improvement in us. City and Liverpool next up which will be a stern test of what’s possible.
