Fans react to Collins new deal

|

J CollinsJames Collins – long linked with a December move – has received the Christmas present he wanted above all others – a new Irons contract.

Ginge is an absolute terrace hero and here’s how the fans have reacted to the news on the ClaretandHugh site and Facebook forum @https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/

Here’s some of the comments they have left.

O One Ginger Pele, there’s only one…

O Thoroughly deserved. Well done Ginger.

O Well done lad. Always good to see reward given, when its earned.

O Amazing to think that a few weeks ago after is sending off the club were extremely unhappy with him and his general discipline was being called into question. And a couple of weeks before that we were talking about how amazing his performance was at Palace. It’s up and down all the time with Collins. But good for him, his commitment can never be questioned.

O Like Noble the guy is a hero that always gives as much as he can during a game but some fans will get on his back if he makes a mistake, some fans wouldn’t say Noble is a ‘legend’ but he is.

O Good news all round – keeps him out of the clutches of other Clubs and gives him what he deserves!

O Well deserved , he is an asset for sure is our Ginge !

Collins is a great player to have when the chips are down .. Good news he has signed new contract .

Agree with the Collins doubters. he has one good game and everyone thinks he’s a world beater. He just doesn’t do it in the games where we are attacked with pace. Swansea had no real pace with Montero not even given game time.He would of given Ginge a right nightmare.
Burke and Oxford are streets ahead of him in this new era of pace

      One good game?

He’s nearly always done the business in 3 1/2 seasons. He makes the odd mistake, they nearly all do and Tomkins certainly does. We need 4 decent CB’s and that’s what we’ve got.

Worst decision we could make, turns slower than an oil tanker at sea, gives 110 percent and has been useful for us, but even at this stage I would rather have reid Tomkins and ogbonna backed up with Reece Oxford and Reece Burke, two quality young centre backs who I am afraid we will lose by keeping the likes of Collins, 32 larger wages than Burke and Oxford, not good business for west ham in my opinion,

Where does this leave Reece Oxford ? 5th choice for the next two years ? Not impressed with this, should of let him go at the end of the season..

Agree with you mate Oxford isn’t going to be a midfielder in two years my preferred four centre backs at the hammers would be reid tomks Oxford and burke

  • IronHammer says:

He did superb vs Swansea, but I wasn’t impressed with his display in previous games. Wish him all the best but i hope we wont sell Tomkins

Not impressed with Collins new deal, Unless it’s two years so they can sell him! He had a really good game against Swansea because he was playing in Wales and he wants to be included in the Welsh European games this year!. He is 32 years old and he will not repeat the level he did against Swansea on a regular basis. He will be a liability week in week out!.

      one words to your post,,,,,,,********

    • Hammerman6 says:

Do you think the Welsh FA selectors only watch games in Wales ? That’s ridiculous.
I don’t always agree with working to stats, but look at Collins Opta stats for blocks, clearance headers, etc speaks for itself.

  • Hammerman6 says:

Sorry Ol mate Ging gives 110% every time
He puts on the shirt. There are one or two that would do well to
follow his example….it’s a big yes from me!

I would just like to strike a note of caution here. I am not sure whether this is the right move for West Ham – or for Collins.

His recent disciplinary record should give some of us pause for thought, at least.

    🙁

absolute Rot….that man puts his body on the line every time he plays for us,,,trouble is Many people slag him of when he makes a rare mistake, but they soon forget when he’s there taking a shot to the nuts to stop a certain goal
