Fans take credit for quality display at Hull

GoldandsullivanWest Ham’s owners and fans who have relentlessly demanded quality and attacking football should be giving themselves a huge pat on the back.

That Sam Allardyce decided to have his team turn on the style against Hull City last night is their victory.

For months and months the manager has been under more and more pressure to break out of the mentality which seen him become one of the most disliked Irons bosses in many years.

Would he change? Would he hell!  We have had turgid performance after turgid performance, polls calling for his departure and one of the busiest summers in our history as the board brought in players who  could give West Ham a new dimension.

But still he persisted with his one-up policy which has led us absolutely nowhere. That opposition boss Steve Bruce should say after last night’s match: “We didn’t expect them to play like that ” says it all.

This page gave the manager his due after the game last night but teh real recipoents of praise are teh owners and FANS!

As  ClaretandHugh Facebook forum member member Neil Abrey says:  I hope this is a beginning of something beautiful but make no mistake this is a return on the pressure we as fans have put on him and the board. Well done us. “

That’s inarguable – the way forward is down to those who have shouted long and hard for a new approach!

  1. Fan pressure? I agree to a certain extent as at west ham we have a certain expectation on how football should be played and that it’s not all about wining but wining with a certain style.
And while there is no doubting that last year was truely horrendous and that the fans rightly criticised both the manager and the club, it should be remembered however by and large you can only pee with the one you have got.
Up and till now we just haven’t been able to play a more expansive style of play because we haven’t had the players or resources to do so!

So although great credit must be given to the fans for highlighting the fact that what we have had to endure last season wasn’t exceptable, greater credit must go go BS and the board for identifying our deficiencies and recruiting accordingly. In fact recruiting rather spectacularly!

Last night although not perfect showed if anything given the right players BS can deliver the kind of football we all expect and now can demand.
It is also clear that the team indeed needs more time to develop and once they have settled properly and really gotten to grips with how we are going to play, then we will really start to kick on! COYI!
