Fans wade into Carroll – “it was down to him alone”

Andy Carroll’s sending off for a double elbowing at Burnley has gone down like the heaviest lead balloon of all time among the fans.

The Hammers 10 men were caught five minutes from time to be deprived of three points and Carroll’s two minutes of madness are being seen as the reason why.

Here’s how members of the ClaretandHugh facebook group responded.

If Carroll had a brain he’d be dangerous. Forget the late goal – the reason we came away with only one  point instead of three  is down to him and him alone.  To make matters worse some around me chanted his name in salute as he left the field as if he was some kind of wronged hero. AC was no hero but every bit a villian. The only good thing to come out of this is that Sakho must surely start up top with Hernandez against Brighton. And hopefully stay there even when the village idiot is available again!

O Exactly Allen.  Spot on absolutely spot on
O Andy Carroll is a liability. Has cost us time and time again with clumsy, stupid actions. Brilliant in the air but he should only ever be a sub brought on when things are desperate. He does not possess the skill or mindset of a top class player in the premier league

O Carroll  not only takes up a place in our team that that be better suited to someone else but he influences the whole dynamic of the play and formation turning us into a long ball team. He’s a moaning old tart and a liability to boot.
Yet again the discipline of the players costs the team. How many more red cards? Absolute joke
O Lets hope we have such a good game against Brighton that Slav will not want to play him first in future games . Sakho has deserved to start and Chico should be playing in Caroll’s position . The red card will hopefully mean that now we can play faster free flowing football. Carroll playing means we are slower and still hoof and he needs to go completely in order for our game to move to the next level
O  Unlike the majority of supporters, I just cannot see Bilic playing Hernandez and Sakho as a 4,4,2. I believe he will play 4,5,1 (4,2,3,1 when attacking). If we find ourselves behind in the second half, then he may push 2 upfront. I think Sakho will be on the bench at the start of the game.
O DROP HIM!
O Carroll = prat

  1. If there is any truth in Everton being interested (for £20m!!!) ship him out in January and bring in a striker with at least half a brain cell. Of course this all depends on the Sakho situation as well. Footballers today…..pampered load of cnuts.
