Felipe Anderson claims are wide of the mark

Reports from Italy that advanced talks with Lazio are taking place about Felipe Anderson are wide of the mark Claret and Hugh has learnt.

While there appears to be some interest from West Ham in the in-form winger alongside a number of other targets including Javier Pastore, the talk of a rejected formal £33m bid and the player being close to signing appear to be agent generated stories to whip up competition.

Kia Joorabchian is thought to be a sub agent in the deal but there has been no direct contact with the super agent our insiders tell us. Lazio are thought to thought to value their player at £44m. Our club insider told this morning “The market has gone mad”

The 25-year-old right-winger scored four goals and provided seven assists in 21 appearances in Serie A last season. He also scored three goals in seven appearances in the Europa League as Lazio made the quarter-finals, where they were beaten by RB Salzburg.

  1. “market has gone mad” and here come the usual excuses

    different season same ****

If you want top players you have to be prepared to pay top fees and wages. Our owners never have been prepared to do that and it seems never will

Not gonna be a nice atmosphere come August if we get yet another summer of “we tried but the wages were tooo high the fee was too high etc etc etc”

fans will not accept that yet again

  2. I do understand not wanting to pay above the going rate

the problem is our board appear to be operating with a going rate that’s 3 years out of date

40m transfer fee (Anderson) and 190k a week wages (Pastore) are not out of the ordinary for top players now

    • 40m for Anderson i agree is reasonable, and his wage demands will be reasonable, as he is currently is on a low wage.

190k for Pastore is too much, for a player who hasn’t made 90mins this season IMO.

      • If you can buy Pastore for peanuts, 190k a week is roughly 10m a year so on a 4 year contract he is costing you £40m + the transfer fee, Felipe Anderson at £40m plus his salary will probably be costing you total package of £60m maybe more ? Most would take Pastore at that price. Or if they are serious get both of them see if Lazio fancy Snodgrass in part exchange hahaha

  3. same old same old season tkts have been renewed & Fagin counting he’s dosh well will us fans ever learn under this decrepit board

  4. I bet Pellegrini feels great, mugged twice now.Did nobody advise him that Sullivan tells one lie after another to get what he wants. It’s a promise this ,promise that and when it comes to it “what promises were they?”.Don’t bother with managers in the future Sully,do it yourself because you will not get another manager and frankly don’t deserve one.The supporters will not accept more of your antics again this season so watch out.

  5. Hugh

Could you pass on to your highly placed source that this summer remains very much their last chance to get this right and that the fans will make Burnley seem like a tea party if they fail to deliver again? It seems to me they are totally unaware of this

(not meaning in violence against them, but the protests will be far longer far louder and far more widespread)

    • If that’s not a threat what exactly would you call it? We are not here to be message bearers and I think you will find this site is read very thoroughly by all inside WHUFC regardless.

  6. For crying out loud if you give grief to the board, for a rumour posted by an AGENT you really are dim

  7. The market might well have gone mad but if you don’t spend the money you can’t ever compete with the top 6. The market is what the market is and the board cannot afford by the end of summer to have not put their hands in their pockets and made a significant net spend. If they do not prove to us that they are attempting to reach this elusive “next level” that they marketed to us when we moved, the level of discontent among fans is rightly going to reach a crescendo.

  8. It’s to early to say anything but if I’m honest with the stories going around it dosn’t look good already..like saying “the market’s gone mad ” is a bad omen .. …seems like there saying the right things AGAIN but not pushing through with it ……my God if they lie again there will be big big trouble with the protests and stuff but alot lot worse I’m afraid..even if he pays over the odds for players Sullivan really needs to get that cheque book out quick…
