It was perhaps inevitable that Marouane Fellaini would be linked with a reunion with David Moyes in this January transfer window.
Yesterday Sky Sports claimed that West Ham are interested in signing Marouane Fellaini, as manager David Moyes looks to team up with the midfielder at a third different club. The 87-capped Belgium international was allowed to leave Manchester United after five-and-a-half years in January, to join Chinese club Shandong Luneng.
Fellaini has two years left on his contract in China, however, the Chinese FA are introducing a salary cap which means the 32-year-old would have to take a 75 per cent pay cut from the reported £235,000 a week he currently earns if he stayed beyond the end of his current deal.
Claret and Hugh can confidently confirm this morning that there is no truth in the rumour what so ever and the 32-year-old will not be joining the Hammers in January.
He would have been a good signing for us this season just what we nee a battler and
somebody who now’s the PL
“We have to bring in new blood who will die for the club.
“They won’t be old journeymen, they will be young, energetic, fired-up players.
“They might be 26 or 27, they might be 23, but they won’t be 32.”
David Sullivan, December 2017
Cheap shot. Give it a rest.
As in any walk of life, and said by any person, ever, statements of intent do not discount the odd exception. And there are always exceptions, and perfectly sound (32-year-old) solutions to exceptional circumstances.
Given that this story is BS and therefore not something Sully is looking to complete, it is irrelevant, but citing a comment made 2 years ago is hardly helpful…
I wasn’t trying to be helpful, just highliting another of Sullys ludicrous comments.
To what end, though, Maca? Nobody just ‘highlights’ something unless they’re trying to reinforce an argument or belief…
What exactly is ‘ludicrous’ about him making that comment? That’s how he felt at the time, and he had every right to say it.
Why do you then feel the need to throw it back at him and try to score cheap points?
Absolutely pointless comment that does nothing but stoke up negativity. We’re better than that (apparently) and there’s enough resentment around at the moment without people pointlessly adding more just because they can…
Just wish people would ask themselves “is my contribution here actually adding value to the world?” before they hit Enter…
Shame. Perfect replacement for Sanchez. Too expensive for the Dave’s probably being he’s on huge money in China.
£235,000 per week (which would most likely need to be more to cover increased tax in the UK) would be too expensive for all but maybe 2 clubs in the Premier League, so I assume you highlighting the Dave’s isn’t an insinuation that they’re being ‘cheap’ like so many on here like to bandy about…?
P.S. I wonder if Marko’s position will be affected too…!
