Ferdinand tips Rice departure

Rio Ferdinand appears to have little doubt that Declan Rice will soon be on his way from West Ham.

Like most former players who had little time for the media during their playing days Rio finds himself in a somewhat different position now.

And like so many others the more dramatic he can make his pronouncements the more likely he is to keep himself in the public eye.

And of course Declan, and whether he stays or leaves West Ham is an easy hit when it comes to such matters.

It seems the former Hammer now has his own You channel and has been giving his views on what happens next in the life of the young defensive midfielder.

However, it doesn’t take things much further than most others with Rio believing he will eventually move on which in this day and age seems pretty much a given.

Pundit Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel: “I don’t think he goes this window, I think he stays there for the remainder of the season.

“I don’t think he’s the kind of kid who is going to push to leave right now.

“If it happens, it will be between the clubs. I don’t think he’s going to be the person that instigates it.

“I think he’s quite a laid-back kid in that sense but he’s a driven kid. He’s someone who wants to achieve, better himself and improve.

“He’s like a sponge, he asks questions when you speak to him: ‘What was it like in your time?’ He reminds me of myself in that respect.

“He asks questions like, ‘What was he like, training with him?’, and he wants to know everything because he wants to better himself and you can’t fault a kid like that.

“Good luck to him. I think it’s inevitable he will go but I think – if I’m being realistic – he will go in the summer and I think it woul

  1. Fed up with the speculation , maybe he might do something Ferdinand didn’t and stay so **** up Rio as I have no interest in your opinion ⚒

  2. Left out the most important factor has Rio? Like him and others that have left the Hammers is what the greedy agents want or what’s best for their players????

  3. Not the slightest bit interested in any of the so called experts/pundits.its the old story.if at first you dont succeed keep repeating things .so far Declan Rice was leaving last summer when that didn’t happen january now magically next summer.! It really is now a running joke. Though having said that West Ham need to sort it properly. The world will not wait for them. Contract needs to be sorted NOW.

  4. In the past we have had to sell our best young talent to ward off bankruptcy ie. Cole and Carrick.
Perhaps the two Davids can counter criticism of their ownership by doing all they can to keep Declan because we certainly do not have to sell.
For Declan why would you want to go back to Chelsea they chucked you out. You have nothing to prove to them. For David Moyes, keep us upwardly mobile and Declan can achieve a great career with us!

  5. I am starting to really dislike Rio Ferdinand and those other ex-Hammers who seem to take pride in trying to undermine the club. He seems to forget that it was mugs like me who paid the wages of the likes of himself, Lampard Jr, Paul Ince, and others while they developed through our youth ranks. I much prefer incoming players like Ginger Collins, Carlton Cole, Mark Ward and others who have always remained steadfastly loyal to their adopted club.

  6. Give it a rest Rio you keep rattling on about declan leaving as apparently you are West Ham fan who left to go to Leeds united you sure 🙈
