Ferguson’s Loan | Moyes unhappy at West Ham’s successful deal

Most Premier League teams were apparently chasing a striker in the January window – those near the top seeking the points for European qualification, whilst those perilously close to the drop zone are desperate for the goals to keep their jobs and keep their clubs in the top flight. Graham Potter who was apparently instrumental in persuading Evan Ferguson to join the Hammers for the rest of the season must be pleased that the youngster to whom he gave a debut is back under his watchful eye, if only for four months.

Several clubs were chasing Ferguson, both in  England and in Europe – so it being heralded by the club as a mini coup for West Ham that the Ireland international chose West Ham. In itself this shows how desperate fans are for a decent replacement for Haller, Scamacca and Antonio. The fact that West Ham have to make do and mend with a 4 month loan of a 20 year old third choice from Brighton is a tad sad. However, there are worse positions to be in right now!

Ex Everton Scout Brian King is convinced David Moyes- who wanted Ferguson for Everton in view of their three strikers all being incapacitated – is in a far worse position now that West Ham completed Ferguson’s loan.

Quoted in goodisonnews.com’s article “Moyes unhappy already at Everton after strange transfer news”, the scout thinks Moyes will be annoyed about his former club West Ham signing Ferguson on loan:

“It was pretty strange that Ferguson went to West Ham, I’m sure Moyes wanted him at Everton.”

My point being here not to celebrate the schadenfreude of former Hammers’ manager Moyes obvious disquiet at losing out to his former club. More to be happy that West Ham’s position in this February, post window Premier League pause, could be far worse without the young enthusiastic front man to tide us over until the summer.

That is when the real ‘crunch’ time comes – more than likely West Ham will be without any of their recognised strikers  as Ings and Antonio will finish their contracts and Fullkrug is more than likely to head back to Germany. A short term loan signing  might just suffice now, but in August there’ll be THREE frontmen-shaped holes in the squad.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

No worry about possibility being 3 strikers void in summer.
There will also 2 defenders, Coufal and Cresswell.
    Goalkeeper and central back replacements.
Mid attack unless Guilherme stakes his claim (that’s if he is still around).
Potter already plotting his needs so early signings should be coming through the door.
No more speculation of 40-50 players with no results.
    Basically another complete rebuild.

Can’t recall where I heard it but apparently Tony Bloom wanted £90m for the third choice attacker which is why no deal to buy could be struck. Will be interesting to see if he can stay fit and what he can do for us !!!

Everton were never after Ferguson, we had our full allocation of loan players and couldn’t have signed Ferguson anyway. King has a downer on Everton…”former” scout may explain why.

Not sure what you find a bit sad about signing a young, talented striker on loan, that the manager knows very well.

Personally i hope he has a stinker of a loan can’t hit a barn door from 2 foot goes back to Brighton they think crap he’s worthless offer him back to us for £25million Sullivan says no make it £20million they cut there losses and we find out he is good he was just being rubbish under orders so we could afford him in the summer lol….stranger things as they say

Yeah. Definitely strange that a player would wish to link up again with the manager who gave him his debut in the PL at only 17 and who he enjoyed the best spell of his budding career under. Can’t possibly fathom why he chose us in that scenario.

Also, apparently the reason no option or obligation to buy was in the loan is because Brighton quoted West Ham at £90m for that. Understandable why they didn’t fancy that, if true…

No need to worry about ‘crunch’ time just yet. There is a lot of football to be played between now and then. We will have the recognised strikers we want in place ready for next season’s campaign. Who they will be is the subject of countless speculative articles to be written between now and then. Enjoy the ride and don’t fret too much!

Goodison News is not a valid source. Every Everton fan knows it is clickbait garbage. It’s never correct. It’s actually run by a LFC fan. They also run Villa News too & regularly post negative stories for clicks.
