I’m not sure whether every Claret and Hugh reader shares the same opinion but it has been pretty tough reporting numerous ‘articles’ linking West Ham with hugely expensive, homegrown talent which experience tells us is highly unlikely to set foot inside the training centre at Rush Green.
Continual reporting of Harvey Elliott, James McAtee ‘links’ are frustrating as you’d have to ask whether these players would seriously consider coming to West Ham with no European football.
They have the pick of the Premier League. And £35 million plus?
So reports suggesting less expensive, more plausible transfers are more credible and in the case of Werder Bremen’s attacking midfielder Romano Schmidt have come from a highly trusted journalist source, Guardian Hammers expert Jacob Steinberg.:
“West Ham are considering a move for Werder Bremen attacking midfielder Romano Schmid. Austria international could cost around €15m. Deal not an advanced stage but #whufc aware of situation. Aston Villa and Fulham are also monitoring the 25-year-old.”
Casting an eye over the ‘web for more information is bit like viewing reels of a players’ skills on YouTube: They all look world beaters.
However, “Excels at playing through balls and orchestrates the play like a maestro, directing the flow of the game and exploiting defensive vulnerabilities” was the AI summary which got me interested: I haven’t seen anything of him myself, but a quick cast around other scouting sites suggests that even though Schmid may not be the most powerful, he’s certainly a creative player who can pick a pass.
And at a West Ham budget: Now that would be rarity. A transfer rumour that actually turned into a deal for a midfield playmaker.
I would sooner have someone like him than the over the hill injury prown like the Callum Wilsons of this world I would sooner keep Antonio
I say again finn azaz from Middlesbrough can do all of above .
Er sounds like Andy Irving?
The trouble is we are always considering and not buying Has anybody at our club realized the season starts in 3 weeks
