“Finally Got His Reward” The Unlikely West Ham Hero

There are plenty of positives to take from West Ham’s 4-0 victory over Wolves — a result that lifted the club out of the Premier League relegation zone.

It was an emphatic win in a must-win game, piling huge pressure on rivals Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Big names deliver, but one stands out

With two goals apiece, Dinos Mavropanos and Taty Castellanos will take the headlines. And the return of Crysencio Summerville is another massive boost.

But there’s one player worth focusing on — Pablo Felipe.

A response when it mattered most

His confidence must have taken a hit after the missed penalty against Leeds last week.

Since arriving in January, Pablo has felt like a bit of a mystery. His presence improves the team, and his energy and pressing have clearly played a role in Nuno Espírito Santo getting more out of the squad.

But the goals haven’t come, and at times there have been technical flaws that have held him back.

Finally a moment to build on

That’s why his assist against Wolves mattered.

Earlier in the game, a deft header had already set Castellanos away, but when the key moment came, Pablo delivered. A clever flick and tidy piece of skill opened things up, and the relief in his celebration said everything — both players pointing at each other, each trying to give the other the credit.

Pablo – delivering on his promise

It was a small moment, but an important one.

More than just work rate

There’s always been effort — pressing, tackling, winning the ball back — but that’s not what you want to be highlighting most about a striker.

Until that first half against Wolves, he hadn’t even registered a shot on target.

That’s why this felt significant and I’m delighted for him.

A partnership beginning to click

It’s refreshing to see a striker putting in the work and contributing in meaningful moments.

Especially when compared to Niclas Füllkrug, who, despite his obvious talent, never really looked invested and appeared to join the club for the wrong reasons.

Now, West Ham finally have a strike partnership willing to work for the team — and that could make all the difference in the fight for survival.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

I started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

I give West Ham opinions and interviews on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus. Former video and content creator for West Ham United back in the days of Upton Park. I was lucky enough to feature in the documentary broadcast on that final wonderful game at the Boleyn when Winston Reid broke Manchester United hearts.

I frequently feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here 👇👇

The lads behind think he has won the lottery to play for us,but I like his commitment.
That’s what we need at the moment

Totally agree Gonzo. For me just the energy he and Tatty puts into playing is a joy to watch and certainly lifts the team. As far as I am concerned they have both been worth their money as it’s just what we needed right now.

Hindsight is a great gift, and I thought we would regret letting Paqueta leave. Especially when I saw who one of his replacements was. Awkward ungainly and lacking skill. But I really think I wrong as this fella really puts in a shift, sometimes, he has a really good touch and sometimes dreadful where the ball just bounces off him. Unless someone gets to work on his finishing he isn’t gonna score us many goals but gives us a lot more and it is to do with team spirit, work rate and just likability. It doesn’t sound logical but these qualities go a long way and will hopefully push us forward.
