Fingers crossed as Reid prepares for full training return

West Ham are hoping to see Winston Reid back in training within the next week.

The central defender has been missing for most of pre-season sparking conspiracy theories that he  he has broken down again and is suffering new problems following his knee surgery.

The 30 year old defender having missed the entire season is still on a training programme away from the main squad as he looks to make a full recovery.

But such was the seriousness of his injury, the medical staff are being ultra careful with him and refusing to rush him back into action.

However, he is now approaching the point where they are prepared to release him into full training where the acid test on how far he is advanced will take place.

And a senior source – discussing the Kiwi’s progress – said: “It’s been a long haul for Winston and we are hopeful he  returns to full training within a week.”

  1. It’ll be jolly nice to see him back in action. Does anybody remember if he was any good at left back?

  2. I remember his nightmare debut at right back under Avram Grant – I also remember many memorable performances in central defence. I woudl love to see him challenging for a place in the team – in central defence

  3. He could be an answer to try 3 central defenders at the back ?🤔 but on the other hand Mr Pellegrini doesn’t do that system!!!!!!🚫 does he

  4. Maybe a false 5 then 3-1-1? Three central defenders, with two wing backs, three mids (one of them defensive) and the remaining four players attacking minded ?
