Finish the season? ….what about the players?

As the discussions go on about how and whether football can finish its season we need to keep a very serious eye on the well being of the players themselves.

And in this short blog ClaretandHugh Facebook member Simon Barham makes some very strong  points about where our priorities might well be and how we can bring the campaign to a satisfactory conclusion should another ball not be kicked .

How and why is football and its participants different to The Olympics?

I was disgusted at the way the IOC were clinging on to the possibility that their event could go ahead.  Footballers should be allowed to rest up and concentrate on staying safe with their families.

When football gets the all clear, I think we should allow an extended pre-season and then schedule however many games the season might allow should it starts late.

Then work out a cricket style Duckworth Lewis system to settle future instances like this, to include an agreement with the TV companies ..

  1. Null and void is the only logical, hygienic, socially acceptable solution. No doubt we’ll see the 96 tears of those poor delinquent red scousers as they all cry infamy infamy they all got it infamy.
Undoubtedly matters in Liverpool will improve during the next 30 years, as a direct consequence of natural selection.

  2. I agree null and void the season. If players come back now after a long break with no pre season there will be a lot of injuries. Not all of the are disciplined enough to keep up with personal training programmes. Human nature. Many of them will be eating pizza and drinking Guinness every night for sure.

  3. There’s still a little time for the authorities to get together on this and decide what will happen, but it’s running out. Hopefully they won’t Null & Void the season. Playing behind closed doors, a Panel decision on results or delaying the start of next season would surely be fairer. IF West Ham were in Liverpool’s place how would we feel then? Who knows what’s around the corner? It’s not all about money.
