First Irons permanent signing becomes official tomorrow

Craig Dawson will become our first signing of the summer – as far as the first team squad is concerned – tomorrow (Wed) after agreeing to sign a permanent deal during the season.

The Watford central defender – scouted by David Moyes of course – was a huge success after joining on loan from Watford and is typical of the sort of moves for which the manager is noted who looks at the Championship often as a first resort rather than last!

It seems incredible that Daws hadn’t featured for the Hornets before settling into Premier League first team football so brilliantly.

With his son David jnr now appointed to the scouting staff we can hopefully expect more of the same – signings such as Daws and Couval at low figures with a high success rate.

The decision to upgrade the scouting system  is the first step towards upgrading an area of the club in desperate need of it.

  1. Agree with you on the scouting system upgrade, Hugh. I’d go further, and say that it feels like another important step toward prising any influence on recruitment away from Sullivan and the agents he’s used in the past, and into the hands of people – Moyes and his team – that we, the fans, can better trust with the money that we (let’s not forget that, regardless of who owns the shares in the business itself) generate for the Club.
