First week training report as Irons shape up

Lewin1Sky Sports have been running the rule over the fitness routines adopted by Premier League managers following the return to training by clubs this week.

And in their report on the Irons they say that after a check-over by new head of medical services Gary Lewin, the  players kicked off their training at Rush Green on Wednesday.

It continues: “They’ll also be having a range of blood tests and cardiac screenings before heading off on tour later this month, according to first team fitness coach Josh Ewens.

But the players have also had the footballs out since day one to sharpen up their skills ahead of the new season.”

The Irons kick off their serious pre-season games in Schneverdingen  on Friday 28 July at 17:30 when they meet Werder Bremen before travelling to Lohne for the second leg of the Betway Cup.

They meet Altona 93 on August 1 before moving on to Iceland for the prestige friendly against Manchester City in Laugardalsvöllur on August 4.
