Five to miss to Liverpool clash

Liverpool will be without five first-team players on their trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham.

Liverpool confirmed their injury news on Friday, announcing that five of their players will almost certainly miss the Hammers game.

Roberto Firmino

Firmino came off the bench against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday but didn’t last long. He ended up heading down the tunnel prematurely and it turns out he has a hamstring problem.

Bobby is not good news with a serious hamstring injury, really unfortunate,” said Jurgen Klopp. “We don’t know exactly how long he will be out but it will be not now after the international break directly. We have to work on that.”

Gomez missed the midweek game through injury and will apparently miss the West Ham game, too.

That leaves Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate as options. It’s up for debate who suits Sunday’s game best, though.

Curtis Jones

Jones picked up a nasty eye injury in training ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League fixture. It appears it was bad enough to rule him out of the weekend, too.

That opens the door for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to retain his place. Thiago, now back from injury, could get his first start in some time as an alternative.

Naby Keita

Keita picked up a hamstring issue that will rule him out of the game on Sunday.

James Milner

And a third hamstring problem here as Milner will also miss the trip to East London. Milner stepped up very well with the likes of Fabinho and Thiago out, but Liverpool can’t call on him this time.
