Focus on lack lustre Lanzini

|

CandH PlayerWatch reporter Danny Leach put Manu Lanzini under his microscope today but it was not a great day for the playmaker

9 – Tracks back and decisively tackles Iwobi in  the middle of the park before distributing the ball back to the defence
15 – Comes in at left back to tackle the ball off Gomes for a throw
31 – Receives the ball on the left but is quickly surrounded and loses the ball to Iwobi
34 – He wins the ball off Walcott, shields him off and plays forward
37 – He intercepts a loose ball in our area and plays it out of defence
51 – He successfully fends off Sidibe but he loses the ball as he knocks the ball past him to try and beat him
61 – Haller knocks the ball down to Lanzini as he  makes a run into the area but his first touch is too heavy and he loses the ball
62 – Wins a free kick as he is clipped by Gomes on the edge of the area
73 – Wins another free kick after being clattered by Keane
77 – Fails to track back allowing Sidibe a free drive towards our defence as he lays the ball to Iwobi who wastes a great chance in front of goal to make it 2-0
82 – Whips in a corner to the back post for Haller who knocks it down for Ogbonna who’s shot is deflected and saved
90+1 – Fends off two Everton players on the goal line before laying the ball off to Rice who’s cross is cleared

Verdict – 5 – Today he was outshone by Bernard and Gomes who took a foothold on the game. As the Hammers were under serious pressure he was forced to do a lot of defensive work and bring the ball out from the back. However in the final third the Hammers lacked that attacking spark in a game where Everton wanted it more than us.

Let me sum that up for you. He was crap, as he has been for more games than not . Bite the hands off anyone offering 30 million.

I know he had an injury, but it is sobering to compare his performance today with that in Moyes last game in charge at home to Everton

In moments like this I’m afraid that the “We are a big team” mantra sounds (sorry to say this) “delusional”
