The past 48 hours have seen West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen linked with moves to Newcastle United and Liverpool, with Alex Crook stating he will only remain a Hammer in the event of Premier League survival.
Yesterday, TalkSport ran an interview with former England striker Michael Owen, who tipped Bowen as the man to replace Mo Salah at Liverpool, saying: “I have said that to a couple of my mates the other day. I said, if I had one player.
“Now, obviously, Jarrod Bowen’s a legend of a player, West Ham adore the man, and rightly so.
“But, if West Ham went down, he would fit for me.
“I think he’s absolutely brilliant.”
Bowen Praise Fair — But Form Has Dipped
Fair enough from Owen, and he’s right — Bowen is brilliant.
However, if we’re being honest, the winger has been a shadow of himself this season. Which makes it all the more remarkable that he’s been able to retain a similar level of output in terms of goal involvements.
Captaincy Taking Its Toll?
As I’ve mentioned numerous times before, I do think the captaincy is weighing heavily on Jarrod’s shoulders and he looks absolutely knackered. It would also appear that JB has lost a yard of pace which I suspect at 29 years of age, is more to do with him carrying an injury than father time.
That said, West Ham could really do with seeing the very best version of Bowen against Arsenal this weekend.
Arsenal Test Needs Big Response
Taty Castellanos is probably due a goal, but realistically, we’re going to need our captain at full tilt — full of energy and finding that killer instinct in front of goal — if we’re going to stand half a chance.
Especially against Declan Rice and his Champions League finalists.
Might be nice to see him go to a team who let him play to his strengths, really think he has so much more to offer a decent team , it’s probably the only way any player will get to the “new level” we were all promised, division 1 or 2 here we come, impossible? ask Leicester city……..
