Carl Jenkinson could be struggling with a confidence crisis should his Hammers exile continue for much longer.There have been suggestions that the Arsenal right back has been struggling with himself ‘ after an opening to the campaign which started poorly and went downhill.
That last weekend the manager opted for James Collins to replace Winston Reid alongside Angelo Ogbonna with .James Tomkins holding the right berth will have done nothing for for Jenks’ hopes of an early return.
Some of his harshest Twitter critics have called for him to be sent back to Arsenal which is impossible as the loan terms state such deals are permanent.
A source revealed: “That’s a fact. There’s no early return clause but we want to see Carl battle his way through any confidence crisis he may be suffering and put the pressure back on for his position.
“He’s a quiet lad and it is probably fair to accept that his confidence has been hit but he’s a professional and if that’s the case he needs – and we are sure he will – to bounce back quickly because he’s a very good payer indeed at his best.”
It will be hard because in the five matches JT has started at right-back, the Hammers have not conceded a single Barclays Premier League goal!
“I am just trying to do the best I can defensively. I know I can do a job there. Going forward is always more difficult, but hopefully I am getting there.”And Tomkins seems to see himself booked in for a lengthy spell in the team saying:

The important point is that he is a Professional which means there is no choice for him – he has to battle through his ‘confidence crisis’ and show what he’s capable of – his career is on the line he has to show some character – there is no alternative for him!
If you say something enough times you start to believe it. It’s called auto suggestion.

No need to shout johnham. We have done well utilising the loan system to get a better player maybe than we could afford to sign outright in recent years. Jenkinson and Moses may well be on loan from Arsenal and Chelsea but they are playing for West Ham and as long as they are wearing our colours they will get my support. No room for prejudice.
I would rather play Alf garnet there than have this gooner back in the fold !!
He is a loan that isn’t working out and he will be gone at the end of it !!!
Oxford could play there if needed , even a dev squad FB will do , a hammer !!!!

One of our best players last year. And he played brilliantly in the games I saw him play for England under 21s last year. He’s still young and has time on his side. He can still improve all areas of his game.
There is a place for you , Carl , an important place that you must battle for when the oppotunity arises . With the injuries we are picking up it looks like you will have your chance sooner than later . The defence is having to work overtime and there will be a need to rest someone pretty soon . We know you are good , just be patient .
