The gulf between English Premier League quality and the Scottish Premiership are emphasised today in a new article suggesting that one West Ham player – long considered below par for the club – could do well to move north of the border and in fact already has Celtic sniffing around as his contract – finally – ends this summer.
In their article today the Scottish dailyrecord.co.uk makes the claim that:
“Danny Ings gets fresh Celtic transfer pitch”
And offers the West Ham veteran forward a surprising route to continuing his career:
“Could Danny Ings be a success at Celtic? Absolutely. His playing time at West Ham has been restricted and I think Celtic would be a great option for him….He will certainly be on the radar of Celtic and maybe Rangers because he has a proven record of putting the ball into the net.”
The big question is whether Ings, who has been earning £120k a week at West Ham whilst largely sitting out the season, could get used to life on a Celtic salary which is going to be a painful reminder to him that the best days of his career are behind him.

Celtic beckons for Ings
However, come 1 June, Ings along with Lucas Fabianski, Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell and Vlad Coufal are all heading out of the London Stadium with perhaps only Antonio getting a reprieve at a revised rate on a play-as-you-play option. So change is afoot at London Stadium, with former first team regulars all set to depart for pastures new and fresh challenges.
Ings to Celtic? Why not. And the very best of luck to him.
Moyes panic buy.
There could be many more these transfer periods from Potter & Co.
Irving may also follow Ings across border.
Aren’t whu looking at 2 young players venturing into premier league?
Celtic & Rangers are welcome to him. £120k a week for just sitting on the bench and completely ignored when we didn’t have any other recognised striker. Only West Ham would have been stupid enough to offer those wages to someone who has only scored 5 goals and 4 assists in 69 matches since he arrived.
None of the players who will be out of contract should be retained Antonio has only scored 12 goals and 6 assists in the last 2 and a bit seasons and is no longer up to PL standard especially after his injury.
I’ll drive him to parkhead myself
