Forgotten striker gets fresh chance

|

MaigaModibo Maiga is back and hopefully ready to make a point.

With a year left on his Irons contract and loans spells at QPR and Metz behind him, everybody is keeping their fingers crossed the 27 year old can produce at last.

And like every member of the squad he will get his chance under new manager Slaven Bilic in the close season and, hopefully, beyond.

David Gold confirmed on Twitter: “Maiga is in the pre-season squad. It’s up to him and Slaven [Bilic] to decide what will happen. “He will get his chance.”

And speaking to ClaretandHugh later he added:Who knows what could happen under a new manager. There was a time when under the last boss he was asked to play an Andy Carroll role and that’s not really his game.

“It could well be that in a different formation where his strengths are used he could well become a different proposition. Obviously we hope so.

There’s a chance to save the club some money in the transfer market but let’s wait and see.”

Useful striker ,and in form, for the lower league Euro games, saving the big guns for the Premier.Or perhaps those who want him out before he’s kicked a ball for SB would rather have another of the forwards injured before the real season starts.
    Careful what you wish for.

Just get him off the books. He aint ever going to cut it.Stop dreaming that he can DG.If you think he is going to be one of our strikers for The Prem this season you need to have a lay down!

An awful lot of ifs with Maiga, too many for him to come good I’d say but it’s up to Slav to see for himself

Have a laugh, just pay his contract off and get him off the books for f*ck sake. anyone who disagree’s needs to have a serious word with themselves, he is NOT Europa or cup winning standard, he’s not even premier league standard and don’t gimme the waffle about ‘he was played out of position/Carroll style role’ b*llox he’s a flop
