Former Hammer calls on Moyes to help Scamacca

It’s time for David Moyes to start playing two up now and again,

That’s the opinion of Tony Cottee who believes that there is a case for teaming Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio together on occasions.

TC – speaking exclusively to Claret and Hugh – is the perfect former player to make such a declaration based on his amazing partnership with Frank McAvennie – a duo who were probably our most successful up front.

Although he believes  that David Moyes will eventually turn things around he clearly wants to see a change of system now and again – a suggestion with which not many would disagree.

He said: “I really don’t like one up. I would always play two in fact. Having said that I feel sorry for Scamacca not only because he is being played as the sole striker but because he is getting little service out of midfield.

He looks a decent striker to me but looks to me as though he really does need some help up top.

“As a new player trying to settle in, I believe having someone alongside him would help enormously.”

  1. I expect Moyes to do what he normally does with our ‘strikers’ – ie leave them upfield on their own and give them no supply, and then give them the ‘hook’ on 74 minutes! 🙄
