Arsenal’s animated manager Mikel Arteta doesn’t have may friends amongst opposition fans in the Premier League, (or within West Ham’s newly relegated Championship side..) The screeching, shouting, bullying and ranting, from all too often outside the designated touch line zone, has become his hallmark and one thing absolutely guaranteed to rile supporters .
Claimed to influence referee’s decisions to boot, Arteta’s endless theatricals more often than not go unpunished by officials and this season have sadly landed the Gunners’ boss with the top prize in English football.
Too many tantrums and tempers – but Nuno could use a bit of Arteta’s passion on show
However, by contrast, Nuno Espirito Santo’s silence and statue-like appearance on the touch line is seen as something the Portuguese coach needs to work on, according to former West Ham Championship striker Brian Deane. Reported ‘exclusively’ in westhamworld.co.uk, Deane believes the Hammers boss needs to lose the plot on occasion to get the best out of his team when the season starts:
“The manager has been promoted once out of this division already, so he knows his way around the Championship as well.”
“I’ve heard people talking about perhaps there needs to be a little bit more passion out of the dugout.”
Quite possibly that ‘passion’ will return once West Ham stop propping up the table and give Nuno the success he’s been working hard for: At times last season his dejection was palpable as the Hammers flirted with relegation for most of their manager’s nine month first season at the helm.
‘Channelling his inner Arteta‘ in the Championship would be a sight well worth paying to watch, if it gets a tune out of the selection of loanees, youngsters and old lags that the Hammers might have to send out to do battle. They’ll need all the help they can get from the touchlines.
He doesn’t have an inner Arteta though would love to see those managers booked and sent off more often.
Am fairly certain also that is why Nuno hired Paco who does have that fiery nature, to bring the fire and get on the players if needed.
A little more enthusiasm wouldn’t go amiss his motivation is very non discript.
Whu have never really had a manager for sometime, Moyes/Potter who show any tempo in their actions.
We don’t need Arteta/Emery/de Zerbie who throw themselves around like clowns trying to influence decisions.
