GeorgeChampionship side Barnsley have signed former Hammer George Moncur for  a transfer fee of £500,000 according to BBC Essex.

Moncur scored 14 goals in 51 games for the Colchester  last season, but could not help them avoid relegation from League One. The 22-year-old had also held talks with Peterborough, where personal terms had been verbally agreed, according to Posh director of football, Barry Fry.

The sought-after midfielder was a wanted man after an excellent campaign for Colchester United and the 22-year-old will team up with the Reds for pre-season training.A product of West Ham’s illustrious Academy system, the talented midfielder scored 14 times last season, including twice against the Reds.”
