Former Hammer out for the rest of the season

ZarateFormer Hammer Mauro Zarate has been ruled out for the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 29-year-old twisted his knee badly against West Ham on Saturday in the 1-1 away draw.
He required oxygen on the pitch before he was taken off after nine minutes of treatment. Zarate, making his third appearance for the Hornets after signing from Fiorentina in January, was taken straight to hospital.

The Argentine revealed the full extent of the injury in an Instagram post saying:

“With sadness I inform you that the results show the following: anterior cruciate ligament rupture plus an injury grade 1 of medial collateral ligament. I will face this with all my strength and will be back stronger than before.”

Earlier today West Ham joint Chairman David Gold wrote a message to Zarate on twitter saying: “Good luck to Mauro Zarate one of the nicest men in football. dg”
