Former Hammer puts one past West Ham

|

DiameNewcastle won for the first time in 10 Premier League matches as they came from a goal down to beat West Ham at home. Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring as he slotted one past Rob Elliot after six minutes after a mistake by Henri Saivet.

That lead lasted just four minutes as Saivet made up for his error with a 25-yard free-kick that sneaked inside Adrian’s near post.

Adrian had been standing too far to the right and commentators said he should have done better.

The Magpies hit the woodwork twice and West Ham were lucky to remain all square at half time.

It was former Hammers Momo Diame fired Newcastle ahead from a Christian Atsu’s pass. Minutes later the Hammers won a penalty when Michail Antonio was brought down by Ciaran Clark, only for Elliot to save Andre Ayew’s low and poor effort. Replays showed the referee was wrong to award the spot kick in the first place.

Atsu soon made it 3-1 to the Mapgies with a poked finish, but David Moyes’ side gave themselves more than a fighting chance when Ayew smashed home after Andy Carroll’s header was parried to make it 3-2.

Newcastle survived a frantic closing spell to secure a victory and all three points and dropped West Ham down to 17th place.

He is tinkering too much.Back line should have been the same as last week at Stoke,Rice in for Kouyate and a proper striker up top.Chance to play on the break at Bournemouth but then its the stick or twist job against West Brom.Definately need some quality in midfield come January. The defence can be solid or like today when we take a team on.He has a job now to find the balance but i would like to think that after a couple of quality signings he will know his starting 11 and play it and stop messing.

Agree & he will but we need other creative option if Lanzini is out & Noble now we need bc he can pass. We really mucked up this past window. Sold to many players & didn’t bring enough in..
And the ones we did they had no idea of how to fit them in

Just when I thought that Moyse had sorted out the defending ! Back to the drawing board.

  • Thaughwaits says:

    1) The Antonio experiment up front has to end with a proper striker playing
    2) penalty practice for everyone other than Noble
    3) Enough talk about how good we’ve become and a new contract for Moyes
    4) Next two games v Bournemouth and West Brom absolutely massive

      5) Stop playing Reid on the right side of central defence he is a calamity, we have Declan Rice and James Collins
      6) Based on this game and season give Kouyate a long break he needs to rebuild his game.
      7) Play defensive + counter attack against everyone for the rest of the season it is a formula that works, (every game we dominate the stats we concede 3+ goals it can’t be a coincidence).

Agree Reid had a bad one. Antonio is getting ripped but he wasn’t fit to begin with & gives is all. I think Sahko & Chic should started w Arnie behind.
Reid I like but he is overrated he is a good CB but not great like some think. Oggy has been covering for Reid. Adrian should done better w first goal but other then that Reid for 2nd & Kouyatw not back tracking along w Arthur.
Arnie was stand out man of the match was great.
Zab got ripped to shreds by Atsu.
Both flanks Ritchie too & thru middle.
We had more possession this game but look more unorganised & exposed.
Hopefully Byram will be back soon as Zab with this fast wingers is just getting hustled

Squad is to thin we need pace creativity & ability to pass.
Arnie should of taken PEN or even Adrian not Ayew who I don’t like other think we should sell he is a solid squad player & poacher.

And I imagine Chicharito will be asking to leave in Jan & I dont blame him.

Either way Arter isn’t the answer. We need 2-3 players without selling any & pace creativity & Physical. A solid passing DM creative AM CM (RM) & maybe a full back & CF like Babacar if sell AC & Sahko
