Former Hammer voices striker worries

Tony Gale has expressed his concern over striker Simone Zaza.

Gale has been critical of the Italian during streamed TV coverage of the match against West Brom questioning his touch and claiming most Hammers attacks were breaking down on the front man.

With no goals after two games Zaza has looked very average and Gale had no hesitation in voicing his concerns when acting as a pundit during the Saturday game.

Juventus' Simone Zaza celebrates after scoring.

And he has added today: “I’m not sure about Zaza. I wasn’t sure before he came to the club, after seeing him play for Juve about eight times.

Gale also questioned the wisdom of allowing Enner Valencia to join Everton saying: “Valencia has been transferred, and I found that a strange decision, when you haven’t got many strikers.”

  1. No sign of Paco the Evertonian tw#t on here tonight then to tell us all how brilliant the Blue Noses are after losing at home to Norwich 😉

  2. Fortunately Zaza is on loan, so he can go back. Same goes for Calleri

  3. I’m not positive that I’m right but I thought the general concensus among us punters was that Valencia was a load of dog-poo and Everton’s interest in him was met with incredulity – Ronald Koeman was generally seen as a really shrewd Manager but maybe he saw something in Valencia that we couldn’t?

No, Valencia is a load of dog-poo and we’re well rid of him!

    • Lmao.Yeah I remember those football dynamos telling us how Koeman was shrewd & had a plan for Valencia.”Watch him go now,he will score a bag full” was one of the them.Along those lines anyway 🙂

  4. If He thinks Valencia is better than zaza then we really are in trouble.

  5. Top pundit galey but think he’s wrong on both fronts. Can’t judge him on two games and Valencia is crap.

  6. Gale does make some odd statements, Slav is playing Zaza like he would play Carroll, similarly to when we play Carroll the rest of the team are nowhere near him, so is it any wonder the attacks breakdown ? The other thing as I have said numerous times is that Zaza playing on the shoulder of defenders is making runs but particularly Lanzini but also Noble and Antonio aren’t passing the ball into the space in front of him or even to him. It is the team that is letting him down because they only seem to want to make safe passes out wide. Considering the players we have you would think they could release the ball early and beat teams through the middle, I am not sure whether he will turn out to be good for us or not but I would like to see what he can do if we play to his strengths.
