Former West Ham manager caught in TV show sting

|

Former West Ham player and manager Harry Redknapp has been exposed in a TV show sting after accepting £20,000 in cash to support a fake charity.

TV  consumer show Dispatches launched an undercover investigation and the 73-year-old winner of I am Celebrity was asked to help give fundraiser CUPPA (Cleaning Up Plastic Pollution in Africa) a celebrity boost. Unknown to him, the “charity” was a fake set up by the telly investigators. Representatives for the star said he was keen to help and accepted £20,000 – including £15,000 for a post on social media and £5,000 for a photo shoot.

After being paid the cash, former I’m a Celebrity winner Harry posed for photographs and was secretly filmed by Dispatches.

Days later he posted about CUPPA on Instagram, telling 1.2million followers: “I’m proud to support CUPPA – a great new charity that’s Clearing Up Plastic Pollution in Africa. Follow them on insta to show your support.”

The charities executives may take triple the amount that Harry did in their wages but that’s their job, we all get paid for doing a job… You can’t compare these two things

  • Carl Webb says:

I cant really see an issue here , harry thought he was doing the right thing by helping a charity that strives to cut down on plastic products and save the planet even though it’s already doomed, keep up the good work for the other charities you support harry

Charity is about giving not taking!!

    • Olahh says:

But the top charity executives. Takes triple that as wages. So what’s the fuss. We should paint the whole charity system with the same brush

The fact that he accepted the money shows just how greedy he is.

    • Joe bloggs says:

Not greedy at all its normal if someone offers you 20 grand to promote their cause as celebrities give whatever it is massive exposure and can generate thousands just by putting their name to something. This happens all the time in advertising and marketing. If Harry is just naive that he doesn’t check if it’s real charity …..thats not his fault….he hasn’t gone looking for this money people approaching him and offering it to him , he probably thinking ok sounds like good cause and if they offering to pay why would he say no……the press and these sting operations need to get a life and expose some real criminals instead of trying to trash someone’s reputation for the sake of it …..saddos

  • Parky says:

That’s what celebrities do isn’t it get paid to promote things. Get freebies etc. Especially if it’s towards a good cause. I don’t see the problem. Who wouldn’t take the money.

  • Graham says:

    CUPPA ROSIE!

you think that was an accident?

  • Sullywhu says:

All stars get paid by charities for exposure… Its called life… 💷💷💷

    • Graham says:

The issue is, it’s a fake charity, he never even checked before he paid the money into Rosie’s account!
