Former West Ham United midfielder Don Hutchison has pulled no punches over who he believes is to blame for the clubās current plight.
The Hammersā former Ā£5m signing took to social media following the 3ā0 capitulation to bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers. The defeat ā and more importantly the manner of it ā appears to have echoed across the football world. That is likely because everyone inside and outside the club now realises just how much of a mess West Ham are in.
Speaking on his X account, Hutchison said:
āDaniel Levy left a legacy at Spurs ā the best stadium and training ground.
The board have sold West Hamās HOME and are renting an athletics stadium.
In what world can that be right?
It would never be allowed at Anfield, St Jamesā Park, Old Trafford etc. Fans wouldnāt stand for it.ā
The former Hammer was not finished there. Responding to comments from Tony Cottee, who had earlier suggested West Ham would be lucky to scrape a 1ā1 draw, Hutchison added:
āNuno is not the man for this, mate.
Itās not all on him obviously, but I just donāt see or feel the fight in him.
Iām gutted for every single West Ham fan with whatās happened to their club over the last few years āļø
If they go down, might not see them in the top flight for years.ā
It is certainly a fear shared by a growing section of the fanbase. Many West Ham supporters are already resigned to a season in the Championship, but based on what we saw from Wolves, there is no guarantee of an immediate return.
More worryingly, there is nothing coming from the top of the club to suggest the expertise or vision exists to mastermind a swift comeback. Hutchison may well be right ā if West Ham fall through the trapdoor, we could be out of the Premier League for a very long time.
Perhaps he should run the club then as he seems to know a lot about it or his he currying up to what he thinks would make him popular, funny how these voices come out the woodwork when there’s a downturn
Personally Gonzo, if the club isn’t sold I can see us in division 1 in a couple of seasons. Wonder what the deal is for a division 1 club playing in the London Stadium?
Ground share with Leyton Orient (them as primary tenants!).
Weāll never have a good manager under Sullivan.
Everyone knows until him, Brady and the other dead wood on the board clear off, weāre on a downward spiral that is forever acceleratingā¦..
Iāve said all along, if we go down, we arenāt coming back up. To get promoted, your home ground needs to be a fortress. The London Stadium couldnāt be further from that. Can you imagine the atmosphere when itās half empty? Iād be surprised if we werenāt in League 1 within three years.
I quite agree Gaza
He would get them motivated
Could not believe todays result
I thought today with news of players starting to arrive would give them all a boost to play for their places
We have no leaders on the pitch to galvanise the team and lead by example. They could do a lot worse than to let Noble play a part for the remainder of the season as the Managerās link to the players as they clearly arenāt playing for Nuno.
