Fornals delivers verdict

By almost universal consent Pablo Fornals had a great game – possibly his best ina West Ham shirt – at Manchester City yesterday lunchtime.

He was here, there and everywhere and proving immensely effective, notably in the difficult tight places within the City defence.

No one deserved a result more than him and after he was ready to express his disappoointment at the way things turned out.

Vladimir Coufal, another who had his usual tremendous game, was gutted at the result but it’s right we should also feel for the midfielder who did nothing wrong all game.

Ok, the same can be said of most of those in a brilliant Hammers performance but with some of the knocking Pablo has taken in the past it’s great to be able to pay him a particular tribute.

And afterwards, speaking to www.whufc.com he delivered his vredict on the team’s performance against the Premier League leaders.

He said: “We’re disappointed because we did a lot of good things up to the key, last pass. But, as a Hammer, I think all of our supporters have to be proud of this team, for how we played against the best team in the Premier League right now.

“Of course we are upset with the result, but happy with how we played – we tried to do our best, and I think we did, and I think we were unlucky to lose.”

The Hammers have more than a week to regroup and prepare for their next challenge, a Monday Night Football visit of Leeds United on 8 March.

Fornals says his team will be more than ready.

He added: “We have to enjoy how we’re playing, keep doing it, and give this present to the people who were with us in the worst moments.

“It’s not easy to come here, to their stadium, and compete as well as we did.”
