Fornals gets ready for a big opportunity

Pablo Fornals could be handed the opportunity to find some real Premier League over the next few weeks with Manu Lanzini injured and out of action for at least eight weeks.

Having joined the the Irons for £24million but having been unable to adjust to the League, Pellegrini may now hand him the games he needs to become used to life at the top.

The manager has been playing him wide but with Lanzini injured, he now has the chance to switch to his natural central role and that could make a big difference.

The Spaniard has shown in the past that he plays way better when behind the striker and may well be seen in a much better light over the next few weeks should the manager give him the chance.

Out of adversity often comes benefit and Fornals will now be looking to step up to the plate and seriously ignite his Hammers career.

  1. If MP plays him purely as a 10 instead of out wide and perseveres with him in terms of game time then I believe we will see the true potential of the guy.
With the possible inclusion of Wilshere for the game against the Spuds this selection could be a major benefit to Haller.

    • He is a 10. He clearly isn’t a wide player. Clearly.

      Not for this league. Never.

As is Anderson. So it’s a striaght choice of the two.

If it’s 4 at the back, it should be

      Martin
      Zabaleta Diop Ogbonna Cresswell
      Fredericks Rice Snodgrass* Masuaku
      Anderson+
      Haller

      + Fornals
      * Noble if fit

Though I’d always advocate 3-5-1-1 with this group.

  2. Much is up to Haller to get an understanding going with Fornals. Haller’s a bit of a lone wolf at present and he wins few aerial battles. He’s not helped by a rigid system – only apparent flexibility being the wingers swopping once or twice.
