Fornals has more than earned his place against Liverpool

|

Fornals enjoyed his best game in claret and blue

Pablo Fornals did more than score a wonder goal against Bournemouth – he staked a very big claim indeed for a starting place in the match against Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

Mind you it took a goal of the season to hear the manager mention his name for the first time in ages admitting at the same time he is a great lad and that he probably hadn’t been given enough minutes during the course of the season.

Tomorrow there’s the opportunity to give him a starting place at the expense of Said Benrahma who really hasn’t impacted on a regular basis for several weeks.

Benny’s problems are obvious – he doesn’t tackle or track back and even the things he is supposed to be good at aren’t working for him,

Fornals’ confidence will never have been higher after that amazing scorpion goal. He must play!

Our team – assuming all are fit: Fabianski, Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Cresswell; Rice. Paqueta, Soucek, Fornals, Bowen Antonio/
