Fornals question mark for Pelle

Could it be time for a Fornals start?

West Ham’s internationals are slowly returning to Rush Green from international duty with the last being Manu Lanzini who is expected back on English soil late tomorrow evening (Fri).

All will be thoroughly examined before Manuel Pellegrini makes his team selection for the weekend as he seeks his fourth win on the bounce at Villa on Monday evening.

The midlanders have just one win over Everton behind them and were pushed into the bottom three after defeat by Crystal Palace last weekend.

The two questions facing Manuel Pellegrini will be whether to recall Fbian Balbuena after he fell out of favour following the opening day game against Manchester City, and whether the time is right to give Pablo Fornals a starting berth..

But with Angelo Ogbonna¬† and Andriy Yarmolenko both giving fine performances against Norwich it’s difficult to see either getting the shout at this stage.

Thus, it looks a case of ‘as you were’ with the line up presumably looking like this assuming no injury problems:

Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Masuaku; Rice, Noble; Yarmolenko, Anderson, Lanzini, Haller.

Bench: Snodgrass, Ajeti1, Fornals, S√°nchez, Zabaleta, Roberto, Balbuena.

  1. He may start against Oxford but I would be surprised if Fornals started any PL game this side of Xmas. I would expect Pellegrini to continue playing him as a 20 / 30 minute sub until the New Year to bring him up to speed.

  2. agree with Ajay. Dumping new boys into the Premiership can lead to disappointment all round, and confidence goes. Better to build slowly, but surely.

  3. Interesting that Wiltshire doesn’t even make your bench

  4. I think the starting line up will be as you predicted, why unsettle a team that had the best team performance seen in a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wilshere on the bench instead of Sanchez or Snodgrass because he has more offensive capabilities and because MP has a big squad to keep happy.

  5. I would really like to see Wilshire feature from start, but my thought is not how Pellegrini likes his formation, so won’t happen. What do you guys thnk?

    Fab
    Fredericks – Diop – Ogbonna – Masuaku
    Noble – Rice
    Wilshire
    Lanzini – Andersson
    Haller

Nobes and Dec protective cover, offensive Wing Backs (at least that one works hehe) with Jack a deep lying playmaker, Lanzini and Andersson running around pretty much where they want to and Haller holding up the play and scoring from the WB crosses.
