It is not often that a change of heart in the transfer market actually favours West Ham: At present the club seem to be struggling to attract players want no European football to offer-let alone the problems of no transfer funds to proceed with those players who do want to come to the club.
However it seems that an about – face from Real Sociedad is about to pay off for the Hammers with a four way bidding contest likely for Moroccan centre back Nayef Aguerd.
Having spent a season on -loan in La Liga with the Spanish side, to rave reviews, the Hammers must have sensed a deal to keep Aguerd in the blue and white of Sociedad was bound to be forthcoming.
However the thumbs down for a permanent deal at the end of the season meant that Aguerd would either have to return to London or be sold to one of the other clubs reputed to be considering a bid: Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid being those who had declared an interest.
Quite possibly being ‘triggered’ by such illustrious names who have declared interest in the West Ham player ,Real Sociedad have now flipped completely and decided that they DO want to buy Aguerd.
£20 million – plus – looks likely now to be the end result and equally, the heavily subsidised portion of his £55k a week wages which West Ham were still paying for Aguerd whilst on loan will be wiped off the Hammers payroll.
Plus of course as soon as a deal is finalised West Ham can go player shopping themselves. That’ll put a smile on our faces.
Good news that’s great to hear.
Talking of defenders who will slot right into the team. Michail Antonio is looking for a job.
He would be well worth the investment.
COYI
“MORE” good news?!?!
The only way I’ll have a smile on my face is the club – for once – playing hardball demanding a high price for this player…..his attitude is atrocious and he should only leave on terms acceptable to the club.
If he doesn’t want to train then don’t pay him
We won’t buy anyone until a week before the transfer window closes in September I think we all know that.
What else is in your crystal ball?
Do you have the weekly Lottery numbers? Winner of the Gold Cup at Ascot? Wimbledon?
The one thing we can say with any amount of certainty is; Almost every future prediction is wrong.
I reckon you’ve never won a bet in your life then
Will it REALLY put a smile on our faces ? I will wait & see !
