Frankie Mc: “No trouble in Romania”

McAvennie graphicI have no worries about the Europa Cup return leg and believe the Irons will qualify for the next stage of the competition.

However, the squad  have to GROW UP now and sort out these sendings off – Slaven are you listening lol.

Ok it was all very disappointing to see the team lose two goals but fair play to Astra they gave it a real go after James Collins was sent off.

However, with eleven v eleven we were we would have gone on to win by three or four because we had played some excellent stuff until then and there was only one team at the races. If we mange to keep everyone on the pitch out there we will beat them.

The manager has a tough decision to make on what sort of team he puts outwith the Premier League so close to kicking off but I think we have a squad that can cope.

Many are saying this morning that we should kick Europe into touch now and concentrate on the Premier League but whilst the PL has to be our Number One priority we have the resources to continue a run in the Europa..

There’s nothing like European nights under the Upton Park lights and I don’t think we should sacrifice that opportunity. I want to see the club make a few quid out of the competition and believe we can go on for a few rounds yet.

I find it ironic way that we have qualified for the competition via the Fair Play League but have had four guys including the manager sent off in five games.

Never mind, we are good enough to press on in this competition and do ok in the PL so lets have it – you don’t chuck in the towel at this stage.

The boss is still bringing in new players and working out systems but trust me, he, like every other manager, will have a preferred system of play and it will be fascinating to see how we go at the Emirates on opening day.

We coped with loads of  games in my day and they should be able to now. I can’t see anything other than an Hammers win in Romania

  1. Good post Frank . . . top man.

Looking forward to your posts, met you a few times, one of the best was at big Phils testimonial at the Grosvenor, at the table with a certain Ms Blyth . . . one of the best comments from you was the only plastic surgery young Jenny objected to was when you took your credit card back from her . . . 🙂

  2. Good, positive stuff, thats what we need to see.None of this moaning & grumbling about Europa. While we are in it lets enjoy it ffs,we dont get to see european football very often & now some miserable b*stards dont want it,unbelievable!! 😉

  3. Careful Frank, dont alienate yourself from some of our fans. They want us beaten & to go out. What a superb set of fans we have these days.Sad.

  4. Now we are talking, great blog Frankie,

  5. Top read by Frankie Mac.Totally with him.I am struggling to understand what type of fans we have these days. The same fans who want us to bomb out of europe will then want us to finish in the top 8 in the Prem this coming season, thus meaning we will probably qualify for the europa league again. What are they going to do next august.Tell us all how we should lose to go out of it again. What a bunch of defeatest planks!!

  6. Hear,Hear HammerAttack

  7. Last nights result was a freak, not only were we 2 – 0 up before the sending off but there keeper had made 3 world class saves and we should have already been 5 – 0. Like you say they gave it a real go after the sending off and when they scored the worldy it gave them the shot in the arm to push on and they got lucky again with the own goal, they didn’t create a singe good opportunity the entire match even against 10 men. On their home ground it will be interesting to see if they are as negative as they were in the first 60 minutes with 11 players behind the ball at most times and its doubtful we will have such inept officials for the second match but who knows its a lottery. I would like us to continue in Europe if only for the experience but if the worst happens I am not overly fussed, the main thing is we now need to buy two strikers that can score goals and Austin should be one of them, if we do that with the way we are playing we will do well as offensively we are creating many chances.

  8. Im with Frankie on this one.Sod going out with a whimper. What a pathetic way to go out of europe,in Romania, with a second string team.Whats happened, have Irons supporters got jelly balls now or worse no balls!!
