Fredericks injury update

Ryan Fredericks has suffered yet another hamstring injury and could be out of the squad for up to four weeks.

And that means despite chairman David Sullivan revealing he’s struggling to get players into the club,  he will be desperately hunting for a right-back before the window closes.

We learned soon after the Wolves game that Fredericks had again suffered a hammy after being forced to sit out the second half of last night’s game.

He only recovered from the same injury towards the end of last season and was covered by the now-departed  Jeremy Ngakia and Ben Johnson who came on as a second-half sub last night.

David Moyes will now be desperate to ensure that he has more cover with Johnson himself having shown to be injury-prone in the past.

Sullivan revealed during his talkSPORT interview last week that he was struggling to bring players in but a right back on loan or permanently is now of the highest priority.

A Hammers insider revealed to Candh: “He has a hammy and looks definitely out for two weeks and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was longer – maybe a month. “

  1. We should look to sign Denzel Dumfries from PSV. Wouldn’t break the bank, has loads of pace and would suit playing as a RWB. He has broken into the Dutch national team recently and will only improve.

  2. We have Ben Johnson with Harrison Ashby as back-up. Have faith in our youngsters. Other teams do. Liverpool blooded Trent Alexander-Arnold. It paid off

  3. Yes I totally agree with Tony’s comments Johnson/Ashby could easily save us a lot of money we apparently DON’T have Johnson looked ok yesterday for the second half and TBF as we are playing them as wing backs and not RB’s could make their jobs a bit easier…
