Free Fornals could see Hammers lose £23 million

Pablo Fornals could be on his way home to Spain on a free in the winter window as he enters the the final six months of his Hammers deal.

That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla. with the Spanish news outlet report claiming our midfielder was close to a move earlier but the club couldn’t make it work financially.

Now director of football Victor Orta wants Fornals to sign a pre-contract agreement in January to join for free, with his  Hammers deal set to run out in June 2024.

It is a deal – should it happen – that will see the Hammers lose around £23 million – the price they paid Villareal under the management of Manuel Pellegrini.
Fornals has slipped down the Hammers pecking order over the last couple of seasons despite him bweing a firm fans favourite.

    The article is slightly confusing; you say Fornals could leave in the winter window, but his contract doesn’t run out until 6/24? How does that work?
    Also, I can’t imagine WHU letting him go for nothing; he has been so solid on the pitch, a good player who anlway gives 100%. Maybe the WHU of five years ago, but not now.
