Freiburg stat attack – who are the danger men? Vincent Grifo

The task facing the Hammers on Thursday night has been emphasised a Freiburg stat attack during this season’s competition. However, they have a few injury problems whilst the Hammers are virtually ok with only Antonio and Zouma doubtful.

The Freiburg stats – via West Ham United vs. Freiburg: UEFA Europa League probable teams, match stats and LIVE blog! | Bundesliga the issues that may be facing us given the  Bundesliga  outfit are now on a three match unbeaten run of games

The most serious goal scorer and danger man is likely to be Vincent Grifo who has four to his name and is among the tournament’s most prolific attackers.

Maximilian Eggestein, meanwhile, is in the  top eight players in the 2023/24 Europa League for assists with three.

Although Freiburg’s goal difference (+12) in Group A is far superior to West Ham’s (+4), the Black Forest side need to win to top the standings given the English side’s better head-to-head record (a 2-1 win in Germany in October).

However, our European pedigree is now well known and top class having reached the semi-finals of the Europa League two years ago, and winning the Conference last year.

How easy it will be for the Hammers to recover from the Craven Cottage devastation is hard to predict but David Moyes has been receiving “Get out of gaol free” cards for much of the season.

At this point of the competition following such a defeat the last of the three other teams we would have least hoped to be facing is the Germans.

However, despite the poor showing against Backa Topola in the last game we have found Euro oppositions very much to our taste and with the great London Stadium backing CandH is going for a DRAW and possibly a 2-2 result.
