French outlet is adamant | West Ham talks with young striker ‘progressing well’

Whilst the general consensus appears to be that West Ham are planning a goalkeeper and two midfielder signings before the end of the transfer window, reports do keep cropping up linking the Hammers with players in other positions which does make everyone wonder if the club are keeping quiet on activity or whether the reports are just newspaper-speak.

Not quite sure in which category the report from footmercato.net this afternoon would sit: The French football market site carries a report suggesting West Ham are “in talks’ with young Senegalese striker Idrissa Gueye:

“discussions are progressing well between Idrissa Gueye and West Ham”

“FC Metz, aware that it will be difficult to retain its young striker, is demanding at least 15 million euros to let its jewel go. For its part, West Ham, which absolutely wants to afford the services of the Senegalese crack, is preparing an offer to try to double [beat] the competition.” [with apologies for the Google translation!]

Fifteen million for a young up and coming striker is a very refreshing proposition if true, fitting with Potter and Macaulay’s vision of a younger squad and meshing well with the existing thirty-something strike duo, as well as being a ‘prospect’ on an upward career and financial trajectory.

Wishful thinking or genuine intent: We’ll know soon enough but this is one newspaper story slash rumour that West Ham fans -and I – would desperately want to be true.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Hes unproven at a decent level. Might as well buy a championship player.

Believe it when I see it we all know that Sullivan Never does tell us the truth he has no intention of backing potter he makes out this and that when he wants to smooth things over with the fans truth is he may well have made bids but so low he knows they won’t entertain it this is typical of Sullivan it’s time that him and the rest of them to get out of our great club otherwise we are doomed

So much for Callum Marshall then,or Daniel Cummings ,let’s give them a chance before chasing more young so called talent

Need to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Players over 30 are to old to keep within Potters age range.
    No more freebies.
Players like Sterling / Grealish great in their heyday have lost pace, to expensive and looking for something they’ve lost.
Brownhill is only same standard as players whu are trying to offload.
Any players in above categories should no longer be discussed as they are no starters.
Whu continue to try confusion as a ploy regarding their monetary situation.
When’s the £90m from the board going to be used as a loan which they offered?
The missing mid field (attack & defense) need to have pace and ideally know how to score.
The for/against goals were terrible last season.

This window is a return to the Sullivan scattergun chaos isn’t it MT ?

Millions of balls in the air, lots of big names that we don’t get close too as distractions, signings getting the here we go then spanner’s in the work…

Only signing injury prone old crocks, Will Salthouse clients and those a long way off the managers first

Bring back Steidten or get Dan Ashworth so that we can work professionally please 🙏

It is tough keeping up with it and sorting the ‘real’ and the ‘made up’ tbh. Strategy? Apparently absent. Disinformation? Possibly. Confused? On occasion,100%
