With West Ham seemingly on the cusp of agreeing a sale of Crysecio Summerville – be it to Manchester United, Chelsea or Tottenham, almost every other ‘report’ claims that the Hammers have a target replacement under consideration.
The latest – and I have to confess I know nothing of the player in question –came from Yahoo Sports Canada of all people who suggested yesterday that: “West Ham United are among the contenders to sign Brighton & Hove Albion winger Tommy Watson, as a fierce multi-club race for the 20-year-old intensifies.
The Hammers have identified Watson as a key target as they seek to add dynamism to their attacking options.
Watson boasts a strong reputation in English football, having etched his name into Sunderland folklore by coming off the bench to score a dramatic stoppage-time winner in the 2025 play-off final at Wembley, sending the Black Cats back to the top flight. That earned him a £10 million move to Brighton.”

However, Watson’s move to Brighton didn’t go so well and he spent half a season on loan in the Championship at Millwall. Which could make him a useful addition ready to hit the ground running in the second tier providing the many other suitors – reportedly the young man is under scrutiny from half a dozen Championship sides – don’t get in first for his signature:
“In addition to West Ham, several Championship clubs have registered their interest, with Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City, and Derby County all considering offers. Preston North End could also re-enter the race, having previously monitored Watson’s loan availability back in the January window.”
the stories of any winger appear to say considering offers or monitoring the situation . Surely we should know who we want and should get a wriggle on.
With all due respect to the others looking at him if we want him he is ours but i suspect this is just another story coming to light as their is little if anything that is coming from the club as to who we want and just how much we have to spend.
