Fulham planning Hammers hijack – report

Fulham are ready to enter the bidding for Alphonse Areola in the summer, according to a new report.

Football League World claims that the Championship side have been keeping a keen eye on Areola’s performances for the Hammers, and that they are prepared to bid for the Frenchman in the summer, provided the Irons opt against keeping him.

West Ham have two options with the goalkeeper and could either keep him on loan for another season or sign him permanently from PSG for a fee of around £11m.

Fulham had Areola on loan last season, and he actually won their Fans’ Player of the Year award, but their relegation scuppered any chances of him remaining at Craven Cottage.

The club are the runaway leaders in the Championship, sitting eight points clear of second-placed Bournemouth and 14 clear of third-placed Luton, so promotion is a formality.

When they win promotion, the report claims they will try to do a deal for Areola, but it isn’t clear if PSG would be receptive to an approach from another club.
