How West Ham United fans will look at this report regarding the fitness of Niclas Fullkrug will depend on their opinion of him as a top-quality Premier League Striker, be it potential saviour or thirty-something passenger. West Ham fans come with a broad spectrum of opinions. The one fact which is not in debate is that Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten could do with some good news right now, Mikhail Antonio’s form has been sketchy, Jarrod Bowen looks more suited to his wide position and Danny Ings is – well, Danny Ings.

So any news regarding the return of Niclas Fullkrug from a troubling calf or achilles injury can only be good news for the Hammers.

According to an ‘exclusive’  report in last night’s givemesport.com there is finally some better news on the way.

After joining The Irons on a £27 million deal, there is speculation that as a ‘Steidten’ pick, that the German is having trouble convincing head coach Lopetegui that he is the genuine article and a ‘goal-ready’ striker for the Hammers campaign.

He’s so far been limited to short spells on the pitch and picked up a knock in the last international break.

The report advises: “Fullkrug is edging back closer to contention for the Hammers after spending some time out injured over a tweak in his Achilles heel.” And Continues:” The former Dortmund star likely won’t start until after the international break for Lopetegui’s men, but they will be hoping that he can be included on the bench soon. There have been good signs at the club’s Rush Green Training Centre that Fullkrug is now building up well towards first-team match action”.

Which by my reckoning means he misses two more games, and then appears fresh, fit and raring to go for the second Premier League run of games after the October break starting with the away fixture at Spurs on 19 October: This would be a great way to get Fullkrug off the mark with a Premier League goal or two and would also endear him to Hammers fans. And his head coach will love him too!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
