Football transfer insider & ITK Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on West Ham left-back Emerson, who has been the subject of a late transfer move.
The 30-year-old defender is wanted by Galatasaray, who have been considering a bid for the player as the Turkish transfer window approaches its deadline. While there never seemed to be a real chance of the Hammers sanctioning a deal for a player we couldn’t replace, the interest was still unwelcome.
The Italian journalist wrote on his social media account: “Despite links with Turkish clubs, Emerson Palmieri has no interest in leaving West Ham. He’s staying at WHUFC, very happy there.”
And rightly so. While Emerson has yet to fully return to his best form, he remains West Ham’s best option at left-back, and selling him would have been a mistake.
However, it may be wise for the Irons recruitment team to start exploring options to replace Emerson, who currently only has Aaron Cresswell as genuine competition.
