West Ham have signed Kara Mbodj from Genk, according to The Sun.
The tabloid claim the Hammers paid £4 million to the Belgian club for the services of the 25-year-old, who can play as a defender, defensive midfielder and central midfielder.
West Ham tried to sign the Senegal international in the January transfer window but failed, we reported then that the Irons would try again in the summer. https://www.claretandhugh.info/kara-mbodj-still-a-target/
Until recently Genk was managed by Alex McLeish, who David Sullivan and David Gold used to employ at Birmingham City.
If the news is true, Mbodj will become West Ham’s second signing of the summer following the acquisition of goalkeeper Darren Randolph on a free transfer from Birmingham City.
However, with the club manager-less at the moment, it remains to be seen whether our red top friends have got this one right.
Signed would be pretty definitive and who amongst us would doubt that bastion of integrity The Sun……well me for one, think I’ll wait for a proper announcement
Wouldnt surprise me if we have signed him.It was said he would probably join us this summer afrer it never happened in jan.Lets see.Looks a decent players from what i have seen.Which i admit isnt huge amounts, but enough to see he has something about him 😉
This may be something like convincing the player we want him while not committing any prospective manager to any recruits or that we are signing people behind his back. The truth (or some semblance of) will likely come out within a few weeks no doubt.
Can’t be true he needs to come to England have a fitness test, then his club is told he can go again because he is worth half the price,he leaves crying only for D S to fly 1 week later and sign him,
Let’s hope he ia as good as Sakho
Or the sun has it all wrong again
With hippo gone good signings are coming!
